    @heydonworks Just a guess: Could the browser be trying to mimic the behavior of the img element for the svg element? The results seem consistent: codepen.io/tylersticka/pen/eYpgYvN Feels counter-intuitive, since SVGs don't have intrinsic dimensions the same way traditional image formats do.
